About Audio Files

This series provides a brief and thought-provoking overview and history of various pre-digital audio medium asking students to reflect on each medium’s advantages and disadvantages from students’ perspective while also challenging them to question and validate the common modern-is-better-in-every-way preconception. In the later episodes, I teach students to compare and contrast several popular digital formats including CD, cell-phone and of course mp3s in terms of quality and quantity. For students, choosing an audio format then becomes a matter of informed consumers engaging in critically competent decision-making.

Podcast scripts can be found at each post as well as embedded in the mp3 file, accessible by single clicking the display of your mp3 player, iPod or iPhone.
